Biden Renews Sanctions Waiver Granting Iran Access to $10 Billion

Continued Funding Raises Concerns Over Terrorism Support

President Biden has recently extended a sanctions waiver that provides Iran access to more than $10 billion through revenue generated from electricity shipments to Iraq. This waiver, originally issued in July and now extended for another four months, was part of an informal nuclear agreement with Iran. Biden opted to bypass the typical congressional process to maintain regional stability until after the 2024 U.S. election. However, the injection of funds has not resulted in significant peace, evidenced by Iran’s continued accumulation of highly enriched uranium.

The Biden Administration has arranged for Iraq to receive larger payments for importing Iranian electricity. They have also created a new mechanism that allows Iran to transfer funds through countries such as France, Germany, and Oman, making it easier for them to convert the funds into euros. Although it has been claimed that these funds are used for humanitarian purposes, they also enable Iran to provide significant amounts of money to Hezbollah and Palestinian terrorists each year, which supports terrorist activities.

This situation doesn’t seem to make sense. Let’s explain it.

What Is Known About the US Hostage Situation in Gaza

According to the U.S. State Department, up to 20 American citizens are believed to be held captive in Gaza by Hamas and Islamic Jihad militants.

Guess who arrived in Iran?

It appears that…the Americans!

However, the Iranians cannot acknowledge this because the individuals held captive with American citizenship are intended to serve as protection for Iran in the event of a U.S. attack. The Iranians have set up a contingency plan involving a committee to execute these American abductees, who also happen to be Israelis, as a diplomatic human shield.

What would be the political impact in the U.S. of a video showing the American/Israeli captives, with a message threatening their execution if the U.S. attacks Iran? What are the potential political repercussions of this scenario in the U.S. leading up to the elections?

U.S. officials blame Iran and the militias aligned with it for what has become a daily barrage of rocket and drone attacks against U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria.

President Biden had recently rejected more aggressive bombing options proposed by the Pentagon due to concerns about triggering a wider conflict with Iran.

Simultaneously…Biden purportedly declined the suggestion of launching an attack on Iran. Why did he make this decision?

One more hint…

Therefore…

Iran is conducting this event and seeks to hold hostages for future leverage. They plan to release videos on the internet featuring Hamas or others, threatening that if the US considers attacking, the hostages will be killed. Iran and Hamas understand that this tactic will pose a significant challenge for the West, particularly Israel, to resist.

To sum up It appears that the U.S. is engaged in negotiations with Iran regarding its abducted citizens, while also placing pressure on Israel to ease tensions. The situation seems straightforward.
